Grief, Energy, and Memories
2024
This blog explores the idea that losing someone doesn’t mean they’re truly gone. By combining the concepts of energy and memory, it shows how our loved ones remain with us—through the energy they leave behind and the memories we carry. It’s about finding comfort in knowing that we never truly lose those we love.
Grief, Energy, and Memories: Why Losing Someone Doesn’t Mean They’re Gone
Grief can feel like the end of everything. But what if I told you that losing someone doesn’t mean they’re truly gone? There’s something I’ve come to believe deeply—that energy is neither created nor destroyed, and that people are, at their core, memories. These two ideas have helped me find peace, and maybe they can help you, too.
When we lose someone, it’s easy to feel the void. But the energy that made them who they are—the air they breathed, the ground they walked on—is still here. Their energy hasn’t disappeared; it’s just transformed, still surrounding us in ways we might not always see. So while it’s natural to feel their absence, we can find comfort in knowing that they are still part of the world around us, just in a different form.
But here’s where it gets even more interesting. Have you ever noticed that when you think about someone a lot—after they’re gone—you’re almost “living” with them again? In a strange way, we often think more about those who’ve passed than we did when they were alive. And in those moments, they are with us, as real as any physical presence.
Now, flip it. Imagine there’s someone alive, but you haven’t thought about them in years. In a way, they’re “practically dead” to you during that time. But the moment they pop back into your mind, you’re living with them again through your memories. So when we lose someone, we don’t really lose them. We carry them in our thoughts, and every memory brings them back.
People aren’t just skin and bones—they’re the sum of the memories we hold of them. So, while grief hurts, it’s important to remember that their energy and their essence live on. Every thought, every story, every memory keeps them alive. And in that way, you’re never truly apart from them.
